Maybe we'll get those flying cars, too...

This morning, Scaled Composites' privately funded and built spacecraft SpaceShipOne has successfully launched into LEO (Low Earth Orbit). with another launched scheduled soon, this will mean that Burt Ratan and his crew will be winning the Ansari X Prize of $10 million.

Looks like semi-affordable outer space vacations are really coming in this decade under the banner of Virgin Galactic. Doesn't bode well for Mission:Space at Disney. :-)

Crazy Back to School Savings!

Zoe started kindergarten at Midland Street School today. She has been excited to the extreme for the past 6 months about it. Of course she handled going to school just fine. Liam, however did not. Tina walked Zoe to school, and Liam went too. When Zoe went inside, Liam flipped... "I want Zo-Zo!". Poor little guy, she has always been the same place as he.

On a cool note, Zoe's classroom is the same one that I had when I went to kindergarten. Same for Chris, and I think Billy too. It is strange, because I remember vividly my first day. We were a little late so all the new kindergarten kids were sitting n a big rug. Most of the kids in the class were wearing shorts and T-shirts and stuff like that. Mom put a suit on me that looked like it came out of Mr. Furley's closet. Hah. Now it's Zoe's turn.

Also, Phoenix started junior high this week at my junior high school: Forest Grove. Apparently her math teacher knew me (I guess we both were in the same class at Midland or something), but I can't remember the dude. Anyhow, let's hope that middle schools haven't turned into the cesspools of crime and gang-related violence that I've heard...
